The SNUS conference, Award ceremony | RB walked away with two awards: – One of the most spectacular cases of the whole year

--

This weekend the SNUS conference is organized by the Norwegian Association of Journalists, and on that occasion a number of prizes are awarded. Romerikes Blad ran away with two awards.

One for the case where RB, with journalists Espen Børrestuen, Steffen Zachariassen and Martin Holterhuset revealed that Bjørnar Moxnes had stolen a pair of sunglasses at the duty free at Oslo Airport Gardermoen.

Spectacular news item

This is stated in the reasoning from the jury:

“This year’s winners of the SNUS award have spent time building trust in many sources in their catchment area. It is no coincidence then that it is these journalists who receive a tip about a particular theft. … The newspaper’s journalists set the national agenda for several weeks, with what became one of the most spectacular news stories of the entire year.”

Proud

– The Moxnes case was one of the biggest political cases last year, and we at Romerikes Blad are very proud that we were the ones who uncovered it. Our journalists did a very good job, and set the agenda with the big talking point in the political environment in Norway last summer, says news editor Rune Bernhus

RB’s photographer Lisbeth Lund Andresen also won a SNUS prize for the images in this case:

This is the reasoning of the jury:

“Among several equal candidates, the jury has chosen to award a photo where the photographer has looked for subjects with journalistic content in an ongoing news event. The photo was taken by a photographer with safe technique and the ability to capture a brief and descriptive moment.”
