A man in his 40s has been charged following the murder of 27-year-old Muhammad Muneeb at Vestli in Oslo on 3 July last year.
According to the indictment, Muneeb died after being stabbed a number of times in several places on the body.
Compulsory mental health care
In the indictment, it appears that the prosecution believes that the man was insane when he committed the murder. A request for transfer to compulsory mental health care has therefore been notified.
Dagbladet has been in contact with solicitor Sohbat Arshad, who represents Muneeb’s survivors.
– The family is aware that charges have been brought and a date set for the trial, says Arshad, who currently has no further comments on the case.
Studied in Norway
Three days have been set aside for the trial against the man in his 40s, which will go before the Oslo district court in May.
It has not been possible for Dagbladet to get a comment from his defender, lawyer Annette Barlinn, on Friday afternoon.
The deceased Muneeb was originally from Pakistan, but studied in Norway. When he was killed, he lived in a shared flat in Vestli with the man now accused.
