Nintendo has officially unveiled the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. The game arrives on Switch on July 18th.
As the name suggests, this is a variant of the Nintendo World Championships. Here you can challenge yourself with challenges from classic NES games, where the goal is to be as quick as possible.
In total, the package entices with over 150 challenges from the following 13 games:
- Balloon Fight
- Donkey Kong
- Excite bike
- Ice Climber
- Kid Icarus
- Kirby’s Adventure
- Metroid
- Super Mario Bros.
- Super Mario Bros. 2
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels
- The Legend of Zelda
- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Challenges include everything from harvesting the first mushroom in Super Mario Bros. to beat up Octoroks as quickly as possible in The Legend of Zelda. You can get a taste of the scheme in the trailer at the top of the article.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition can be experienced alone in Speedrun Mode or with up to eight players locally in Party Mode.
Those with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can also compete against the rest of the world in World Championships Mode, where you upload your best times in five selected challenges each week.
