The case has advertising links that provide VG with income. The editors prioritize independently of this. Switch

At Tek you will find cases with advertisement links, where you can either buy the products we have mentioned or compare prices. We believe this is relevant information for our readers.

Which products Tek will write about, and what we will write about them, is chosen by the journalists and no one else. But it is also important that you know that if you click on such an ad link for price comparison at Prisjakt, or buy a product after clicking through to a store from one of our articles, Tek makes money. These advertisement links are always marked with “ad link”.

It is important to emphasize that when we mention products at Tek, it is because we think it is journalistically interesting. No one can buy publicity in our cases.

In tests or product guides, the main rule in VG is that we buy or borrow the product. If it is not practically possible, we base the review on product samples we have been sent. If so, we will inform you about which product and why.

On May 7, Apple will launch new gadgets, and while it has not been confirmed what they will show off, all arrows point in the direction of new iPads.

Not just because the invitation shows an Apple Pencil. But also because it has been at least 18 months since today’s iPad models came on the market and the launch is placed ahead of the more important developer conference WWDC. Where Apple always focuses on showing iPhone and MacOS updates.

Apple offers a total of four iPad series, but it will be the two most expensive series, iPad Pro and iPad Air, which will be renewed this time.

The iPad Pro, which is the top model, will reportedly get an OLED panel that can display much stronger colors and deeper black levels than today’s screens. That’s according to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, who has followed Apple closely for years and, thanks to a wide network of sources, often hit the spot with his “predictions”.

Engadget points out that OLED panels are thinner than the LCD panels used in today’s iPad, and will thus enable Apple to slim down the iPad Pro. 9to5mac claims the 11-inch iPad Pro will be 5.1 millimeters thick, down from today’s 5.9 millimeters. The larger 12.9-inch version, on the other hand, can be slimmed down by up to 1.5 millimeters so that it becomes 5 millimeters thick.

The frame around the panel must also be shrunk.

The system chip will probably also be upgraded from an M2 to Apple’s latest M3 chip, which should provide increased performance in apps and games, and potentially also better battery life due to higher efficiency.

When it comes to the design, the iPad Pro is rumored to have a glass back. In that case, it will make it possible to charge them magnetically and “wirelessly” with MagSafe, like today’s iPhone.

The iPad Air series, which is more than two years old, will in turn be upgraded from using M1 system chips to M2. Apple reportedly wants to reserve the latest M3 system chip for the Pro series.

Otherwise, it is rumored that the Air will get a model with the same screen size as the largest Pro model, i.e. 12.9 inches.

If so, this could be a slightly more economical candidate for you who want a large iPad, but don’t need all the performance and the very latest technology found in a more expensive iPad Pro.

New Apple Pencil

Of smaller news, Bloomberg’s Gurman believes that Apple may show off a new magnetic keyboard for the iPad Pro that is built in metal and has a larger touchpad than the current model.

As the invitation to the launch also hints at, a new Apple Pencil may be released. Some of the news mentioned for this one is that it can be tracked via Apple’s “Where is?” app, as well as new features based on how hard you hold it.
