And will all this fit on a Nintendo Switch cartridge? That’s the question I’m asking after producer Shinjiro Takata, director Shiego Komori, and composer Ryota Kozuka revealed new details about Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.

The trio of series historians at Atlus have been in charge of this new version of SMTV, and in an interview with Gamespot they shared some truly surprising facts. First, the estimated time it will take to play through the new content is estimated to be around 75 hours, so we can already call this version the royal treatment that made Persona 5 great. However, we do know that the new story here does not overlap with the original, but goes in a different direction, which also gives it the most important differentiating element from the studio’s other work in the JRPG series.

But it’s not just new features, enemies and characters (like the new party member) that Vengeance is packed with. They’ve also rewritten 80% of the themes in Shin Megami Tensei V, adding a whole bunch of new ones to a soundtrack known for its mix of styles. In fact, Kozuka has admitted that they have composed “around 20 new themes for the matches”, which is an absolutely barbaric amount.

With less than two months to go until the launch of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (June 14 on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch), we can’t wait to see it all with our own eyes and give you a full review.
