Brann turned around and won on the day of the party – profile in tears

For the second time in as many days, Fire struck Rosenborg. This time it was the ladies who drew the longest straw after the men’s 3-0 defeat on Saturday.

– This was a lot of fun. I come in knowing that I have one job, and that is to put that ball in the goal. In a match like this, it’s very nice to do just that, says match winner Anna Aahjem to TV 2 after the match.

Over 5,000 had turned up at the “Stadion” on the day when Brann’s women’s team officially moved into Bergen’s main hall. In the past, most matches have taken place at Stemmemyren in Sandviken.

It brought a tear to the corner of former captain Cecilie Kvamme’s eye.

– I wonder when I will stop getting emotional about this scheme here. But it means so much to us to move in here and to have the whole city behind us, she tells TV 2 after the match.

– It is very nice to be a Brann player during the day, continues Kvamme, who is from Bergen and was captain for a long time before Marthine Østenstad recently took over.

But it looked dark for a long time. Rosenborg took the lead after 32 minutes through 17-year-old Frøya Dorsin. And it was not without controversy. The TV pictures showed a clear hand on Emilie Nautnes at the front.

– It was a big deal, yes, I saw that. It is critical that they do not take it. The arm is very far out from the body. It is strange that none of the three or four judges see it, said Brann’s Ingrid Stenevik from the sidelines during the second half.

– That glove is crystal clear. It is absolutely incredible that no one in the refereeing team sees it, said NRK’s football expert Carl-Erik Torp.

But after three substitutions and a formation change at half-time, Brann turned the game around. First, Marthine Østenstad equalized on a penalty kick four minutes into the second half.

Then it was Østenstad again who brought on substitute Anna Aahjem in the 80th minute. Alone with the goalkeeper, she made no mistakes and ensured that six out of six possible points in the weekend’s big city duel went to Bergen.

The result means that Brann is thus “only” six points behind leading Vålerenga in the Toppserien with one less game played.

– With a loss here, it would have been a small disaster for Brann in terms of the gap up to Vålerenga, Torp believes.
