Just days before the F1 season continues in Miami in the United States next weekend, McLaren driver Lando Norris (24) was injured while partying in the Dutch capital.
Norris used the Dutch King’s Day holiday last Saturday to make the most of the break between races.
A number of recordings of Norris enjoying life on a party boat on one of Amsterdam’s many canals, surrounded by revelers, have appeared on social media. But then things must have gone wrong for the F1 star.
Cut up
It is unclear what happened, but pictures show a slightly bloodied Norris, equipped with a makeshift bandage covering his nose. The 24-year-old was also seen with medical tape over his nose.
According to PlanetF1.com, Norris is said to have cut open his nose on broken glass.
Despite looking somewhat bloodied and bruised, he is believed to be fine. Just hours after the bloody photos emerged, he shared a video showing he had arrived in Miami – ready for his sixth race of the season.
– The most absurd thing I’ve seen
Still McLaren
Motorsport has received particular attention among younger people (and Norwegians) in recent years, after Netflix released the series “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” in 2019. In the series, you get to know several people who work to create the perfect racing car, and the drivers behind the wheel.
Among them Lando Norris, who enjoys enormous popularity. The 24-year-old is one of the youngest F1 drivers, and has driven for the British team McLaren since 2019.
At the time of writing, Norris has no World Cup wins in Formula 1. However, he has 15 podium finishes, which is the most of any F1 driver who has not won a race.
In January, the news came that he had extended his contract with McLaren.
– There is no place I would rather have been. I am proud to say that I can stay at McLaren, Norris himself signed https://twitter.com/LandoNorris/status/1750911878442647709.
