Kecmanovic won the 1st round against Chinese Zhang Zhizhen on Thursday afternoon. The match was over in just over an hour and ended with the numbers 6-3, 6-2.

Ruud has a walkover to the 2nd round of the tournament.

Kecmanovic won the first two matches against Ruud at ATP level. It was indeed back in 2019. A lot has happened for Ruud since then, and last year Kecmanovic was beaten in the final in Estoril.

The 24-year-old Serbian opened the season with three strong victories at the Australian Open before calling it quits against Carlos Alcaraz. Since then, it has been more variable from the man with one title on the ATP tour.

Ruud has had a few days rest after his victory in the ATP500 tournament, Ruud’s 11th title in his career, in Barcelona on Sunday.

The match between them will be played on Friday. The Italian Jannik Sinner is waiting for Ruud in a possible quarter-final in the Spanish capital.
