The Norwegian G19 national team could cheer for a place in this summer’s football EC in Northern Ireland with a 2-0 victory over Israel in Skien on Tuesday.
Tuesday 26 March at 16:54
North Zealand player Sindre Walle Egeli (17) scored both goals for the team coached by Luis Pimenta.
Norway stood with one win and one draw before Tuesday’s final pool match in the elite round of the qualifiers. There, the Norwegian team had to win to secure a place in the EC, while they were dependent on help if there was a draw.
With victory in the match and triumph in the pool, there is no telling what the result will be in the match between Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina later on Tuesday. Seven group winners will go to the EC together with host nation Northern Ireland.
The championship starts on 15 July and lasts for 13 days. This year’s EC also serves as qualification for the U20 WC in Chile next year.
Egeli sent Norway into the lead after three minutes. Just before half an hour had been played, he was again forward and doubled. The Israelis never managed to come back in the match which was played at Odd Stadium in Skien.
