News alert, News | The farmers demand 3.9 billion

--

The case is updated

(the nation) This year, the Norwegian Farmers’ Association and the Norwegian Farmers’ and Small Farmers’ Association are standing together on a common demand to the state. Last year, the two trade associations did not agree on a joint demand, and the state chose to negotiate and enter into an agreement with only the Farmers’ Association.

With the new numerical basis, and adjusted number of hours, the farmer’s income is calculated to be NOK 521,300.

Agriculture believes this is artificially high, but these are the figures agriculture is negotiating on this year. For 2024, it is therefore estimated that the income gap between agriculture and other groups is NOK 135,900 per man-year, or NOK 4.3 billion.

On Friday, leader of the Farmers’ Association Bjørn Gimming, leader of the Farmers’ and Small Farmers’ Association Tor Jacob Solberg and state negotiator Viil Søyland will hold a press conference in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

After today’s handover, the government will start work on its offer, which will be presented on 6 May. The handover of the offer is the starting point for the negotiations on this year’s agricultural settlement, which is scheduled to be finalized on 16 May.

There may be a breach along the way, either by both professional teams withdrawing from the negotiations, or by one of the professional teams withdrawing.

After the negotiations, the settlement is sent for consideration in the Storting. If both unions withdraw from the negotiations, it will be the offer to the state that is sent to the Storting.
