According to the local newspaper Il Mattino and other Italian media, there is increased tension in the center of the city after an estimated 600 Eintracht supporters have made the trip to Naples against the will of the local authorities.

At least one police car has been set on fire, and a number of other cars are said to have been damaged as a result of the supporters’ row. The major newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports that 800 police officers have been deployed to ensure that Eintracht and Napoli supporters do not clash.

Several videos shared on social media show that supporters have fired flares and thrown large objects at the police.

Italy’s Ministry of the Interior has, before the match, refused Napoli to sell tickets to German supporters as a result of the scenes that unfolded when the teams met in Frankfurt in February.

Then 36 people were arrested by the police after being involved in fights between the supporter groups.

Around 400 Eintracht supporters are said to have arrived in Naples on Tuesday night despite being barred from the stadium on Wednesday night. The Germans are initially entitled to 2,400 away tickets for the match.

A municipal bus company has set up buses to transport the German soccer supporters safely back to their hotels, but the Eintracht fans refused to board, writes Il Mattino.

Kick-off between Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt is at 21:00. At the weekend, Napoli won 2-0 at home against Atalanta:
