The point penalty of 15 minus points in the current season was confirmed by the Italian Football Federation’s prosecution on Friday evening.

That means Juventus will drop from 3rd place with 37 points to 11th place with 22 points. Then there will be 12 points up to fourth place, which Lazio (34 points) takes over, which gives the Champions League place. 18 out of 38 series rounds have been played.

Outgoing president Andrea Agnelli will also be banned from Italian football for two years, while former sporting director Fabio Paratici (now at Tottenham and the punishment will not affect his current position) will be banned for two and a half years. A total of eleven Juventus managers – including Pavel Nedved, Paolo Garimberti and Maurizio Arrivabene – will be banned for 8-16 months.

Prosecutors in Turin have been investigating Juventus since 2021 following allegations of illegal accounting and irregularities surrounding transfers and loan agreements for several players. At the end of November, the entire Juventus board resigned, including the powerful president Andrea Agnelli, as well as vice-president and club legend Pavel Nedved. Juventus have denied that they have done anything wrong in the matter.

The Agnelli family, one of Italy’s richest after Giovanni Agnelli founded Fiat in 1899, has owned Juventus since 1923. Andrea Agnelli served as club president for 13 years and Juventus won 13 titles in those years, including the streak nine years in a row (2012–2020 ). The Torino club lost the Champions League finals in 2015 and 2017, and even the big signing of Cristiano Ronaldo did not help their dream of crowning Europe for the first time since 1996.

Gianluca Ferrero has taken over as the new Juventus president.

In 2006, Juventus were stripped of two league championships and sent down to Serie B in a major match-fixing scandal in Italy.

Juventus were humiliated in the top game away to league leader Napoli with the numbers 1-5 last Friday. On Sunday at 20:45, Juventus take on Atalanta. You can watch everything from Serie A on VG+ Sport.
