On Wednesday, Sergey Lavrov gave a speech during an international economic forum in Moscow. The Russian foreign minister went straight for the “tolerance for different gender identities in Europe”, where he cited an example he himself experienced in Sweden last year.

Lavrov was in Stockholm last December to participate in a meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). It was during a break that Lavrov needed to go to the toilet to relieve the pressure, according to Expressen.

He was shown to a door that only said “WC”, and he asked if it was a men’s or women’s toilet.

– I heard that it is for everyone. I couldn’t believe it, but that’s how it was. You cannot understand how inhuman it is, Lavrov told the audience during the meeting in Moscow, as reported by Expressen.

Based on the clip of the journalist Francis Scarr opposite, it seems that Lavrov was really upset after the “inhumane” meeting with Swedish toilets and gender neutrality. For many years, Russia has made it very difficult for the LGBTQ community.

Recently, they also passed a law that makes it illegal to promote “propaganda about non-traditional values” to adults in the media, on the Internet, in advertising, in literature and in the cinema. It was also decided that it will be forbidden to “deny family values and so-called propaganda that can make minors want to change sex.”
