Five men have been convicted of aggravated robbery and one of money laundering after a Norwegian artist paid NOK 750,000 after his son was kidnapped in May 2023.

Just before midnight on 8 May last year, a man in his 20s was abducted from the Tyholt area. He was taken to a cellar and held against his will for several hours
hours before he was released. In the aftermath of the kidnapping, the father became
victim, a well-known artist from Trondheim, exposed to serious threats.
The musician paid a total of NOK 750,000 to an account number in
the period 25 May to 31 May. The artist explained that he had to borrow big
sums of family and friends.
On Friday, six men were sentenced in the case, Adressa writes:
- Man (25) from Sweden: sentenced to four years and six months for aggravated robbery.
- Man (26) from Eastern Norway: sentenced to prison for six years and six months for aggravated robbery.
- Man (26) from Eastern Norway: sentenced to prison for six years and six months for aggravated robbery.
- Man (20) from Eastern Norway: Sentenced to community service for 237 hours for complicity in aggravated robbery.
- Man (19) Trondheim: Sentenced to two years in prison, one of which is suspended for complicity in aggravated robbery.
- Man (26): Sentenced to community service for 88 hours for serious money laundering.
In the judgment, it appears that the court’s assessment of the evidence has essentially all
involved conversations using the encrypted communication apps
