These countries have made it to the final from the first semi-final

--

These countries have advanced to the final, after tonight’s first semi-final:

  • Poland
  • Iceland
  • Moldova
  • Azerbaijan
  • Australia
  • Portugal

Croatia, who are also the odds favourites, and Ukraine were the best with VG’s reviewer Tor Martin Bøe and both got five dice rolls for tonight’s performance.

Ireland and Moldova did not hit as well. Both were given a roll of the dice by Bøe. The former, on the other hand, shares first place with most victories together with Sweden, with its seven.

An important note is that the votes are read out in random order, so this has nothing to do with who is “favorite”.

Norwegians could not vote tonight because we are not in today’s semi-final. On Thursday, when Gåte will represent Norway, we can vote, however, not for Norway.

VG’s readers could express their opinion about the artists via the voting form – which can also be shared with friends. There, Croatia was most popular, followed by Ukraine and Luxembourg.

Before the final itself, all of the participating countries will compete in two semi-finals, and it is these countries that have progressed on Tuesday.

In total, there are 37 countries that will compete, while there are ten countries that will advance from the first semi-final in the 68th edition of the singing competition.

The so-called “big 5” countries Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain and the host country Sweden have already secured a place in the final.

New this year is that these will still perform during the semi-finals. On Tuesday, it was Great Britain, Germany and Sweden that were shown.

Today’s “Norwegian contribution”, the Trofors twins Marcus and Martinus, have secured a direct final place with their Swedish participation. The reason for that is that Looren won last year’s Eurovision, which leads to direct qualification the following year.

According to the Eurovision Charts, the duo’s “Unforgettable” is the third most played ESC 2024 song on Spotify in recent weeks. However, it is not as high on the conditions – where on Monday it was calculated for 15th place.

This year’s contribution from Norway is Gåte with the song “Ulveham”, but they will therefore carry out their semi-final performance on Thursday.

On Thursday, there are also 10 countries that will progress. The final itself is on Saturday 11 May, and will be broadcast live from Malmö at 21:00.

VG met Kristian Sognli, reporter at ESC Norway, before the broadcast. He was then clear about who the favorites were:
