Another Norwegian record for the Norwegian relay girls in the Bahamas – 5th place in the final
By one hundredth, the Norwegian relay girls beat yesterday’s Norwegian record in the 4×400 in the final of the International Athletics Federation’s relay event in the Bahamas.
The time was. 3.26.88, which was 5th place in the final for Josefine Tomine Eriksen, Amalie Iuel, Elisabeth Slettum and Henriette Jæger. The American favorites clocked in at 3.21.70 and took first place.
Yesterday’s feat secured Norway’s place in the Olympics over the distance. It will be the third time Norway has a relay team in athletics at an Olympics, but the first time on the women’s side. At the same time, Norway has had a relay team in the WC twice, both times in the 4×400 meters for women, in 1991 and in 2022.
The International Athletics Federation’s relay event (World Athletics Relays) in the Bahamas functions in WC years as qualification for the WC, and this year as qualification for the Olympics.
The Norwegian record, which was broken the day before, was set at Bislett in 2022 and was 3.28.58. At that time, Iuel and Slettum also ran – together with Line Kloster and Lakeri Ertzgaard, reports NTB.
