In May, Prince Harry (39) will make a rare visit to his native Great Britain. The visit has nothing to do with his father King Charles (75) or his sister-in-law Princess Kate’s (42) recent cancer diagnoses, nor is it to end the long-standing conflict with the royal family.
Drama behind closed doors
The prince’s return is on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, and the 39-year-old will, among other things, participate in a church service in St. Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday 8 May. Duchess Meghan (42) is unlikely to join. She has previously hinted that she hates England.
The UK visit will be the prince’s first since his lightning-quick trip in February on the occasion of his father’s cancer announcement. So he hasn’t been there after Kate revealed that she too is affected by cancer. Before meeting Meghan, Harry was apparently very good friends with Kate.
Royal family experts nevertheless believe that it is highly unlikely that the prince will find time to visit his sister-in-law when he comes to visit.
Now he wants to cut it open
– I’m sure he won’t visit Kate. He comes to assert his royal position and his title, to improve his brand, he will put in a lot of effort to be seen visiting his father, King Charles, British royal house expert Tom Bower told the Daily Mail.
He also adds that he will be surprised if Meghan joins.
Nor does royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams have faith in a meeting between the brothers-in-law.
– Kate is currently undergoing preventive chemotherapy, and given how deep the conflict is, it seems unlikely to me. The only hope for reconciliation is if it had happened in private, and then we wouldn’t know about it.
Moved to old hunting lodge
Fitzwilliams, on the other hand, adds that serious illness, such as Charles’ and Kate’s cancer diagnoses, can sometimes be decisive in improving family relationships.
Konghus reporter Michael Cole, on the other hand, has put away all hope.
– After so much bad blood, it is very difficult to imagine that any form of reconciliation between the Sussexes and the royal family will happen now – or in the foreseeable future.
