Brann has been fined another fine for supporters’ chants that refer to Uefa as “mafia”, reports NRK.

Friday 26 April at 09:32

Earlier this year, the club was fined 5,000 euros because Brann fans shouted “Uefa mafia” during the pool match against St. Pölten at Åsane Arena in the women’s Champions League.

Brann did not succeed with the appeal.

Now the club has received a new fine because the supporters repeated the message in the following home match in the quarter-final against Barcelona, writes NRK. Then several flags were also held up that read “Uefa Mafia”.

The European Football Association (Uefa) believes the statements are offensive. The Brann management is adamant that the fans did nothing criminal.

– Brann supports the supporters. The red line that Uefa believes has been crossed should be moved. This is well within freedom of expression, and Uefa should have a discussion with themselves about whether they should tolerate being called the Uefa Mafia, says Brann’s chairman Aslak Sverdrup to NRK.

Norway’s football president Lise Klaveness has supported Brann in the case against Uefa.
