– There is no likelihood of major infection, this case was dealt with fairly quickly. Information has been sent out to all students at the school about what they should be aware of, says Ringerike.

Pupils who experience flu symptoms and pain in the body that do not go away are asked to contact the emergency department in the municipality.

The school will start as usual on Tuesday, and no action has been taken in this regard following signals from the infection control chief, Ringerike says.

The school itself also informs about the case on its website.

The principal at Bjørkelangen upper secondary school says the following to Indre Akershus Blad:

What is infectious meningitis

The Institute of Public Health (FHI) writes the following:

Meningococcal disease (often called infectious meningitis) is caused by infection with the meningococcal bacterium and can be a serious illness.

In most cases, the infection occurs from healthy carriers. Transmission occurs by droplet infection, and usually requires close contact. Exchange of saliva, such as when sharing bottles and glasses, as well as kissing and other intimate contact can be important routes of infection.
