Desirable Xabi Alonso (42) has made the decision about his future.

– There has been a lot of speculation. I have made a decision during the national team break, says Alonso at Friday’s press conference in Leverkusen.
– I feel that this is the right place to develop further. I am staying here.
The Liverpool fans can therefore forget the hope that their old hero (42) will replace Jürgen Klopp.
The German is stepping down as Liverpool boss after the season, and many have pointed to Alonso as his replacement.
– My job here is not over. I am convinced that this is the right decision. I am still young, says Xabi Alonso.
The Spaniard believes that he still has a lot to prove and gain experience. He says that he briefed the players on Friday morning. A clause in the contract allows him to leave Leverkusen after the 2024/2025 season, according to German media.
Bayer Leverkusen leads the Bundesliga – ten points ahead of Bayern Munich and 14 points ahead of Stuttgart. Alonso’s men still have the opportunity to win the Bundesliga, the German Cup and the Europa League.

Portuguese Ruben Amorim is now the favorite to take over as Liverpool manager. Second to the Sporting coach is the Italian Roberto De Zerbi, who is Brighton’s manager and previously had Shakhtar Donetsk.
Bayern Munich also had Xabi Alonso on their wish list.
