Although the autopsy did not give definite answers to the cause of death, the deceased’s next of kin believe that the 35-year-old has been exposed to a criminal act.

The police have so far concluded that nothing criminal has happened, but they are still working to find out what actually happened when the 35-year-old disappeared.

According to the investigation, the woman must have called the police’s emergency number twice on the same night she disappeared. In the emergency calls, from two different mobile numbers, she is said to have said that she had been kidnapped. However, the police did not intervene.
Before the disappearance, Veronika is said to have chatted with several people. With the help of Messenger, the police must have mapped out who these people were.
– We have obtained the contents and have interviewed most of the people she spoke to. It remains to speak to one or two of them, says police inspector Odd Skei Kostveit in the South-East police district, to NRK.
The last sign of life from the woman must have been on 30 July 2022. The mobile phone rang at a base station near Akersvannet. The last observation was made in the center of Stokke on the same day she disappeared.
