Lasse feat. Certifiedaskil’s Hawaii song shot to the top on Spotify – NRK Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

--

Are you tired of the nasty cold in Norway? Do you want to go to Hawaii? Then maybe the song by the Rogalander Lasse Sælevik is something for you.

The song that began as a school project has now soared to the top of the Spotify list “Top 50 Norway”

– It is absolutely sick. I don’t quite understand it myself. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I marketed the song perfectly, even though it’s crap.

Sælevik has 66,000 followers on the app TikTok, and here he asked his followers to play the song for seven hours straight.

And it worked. In less than a day, 16-year-old Lasse whizzed past Broiler, Miley Cyrus and Emma Steinbakken.

Lasse’s song led to Emma Steinbakken and Broiler having to settle for second and third place on the list.

Had to meet with the school

– I’m happy with it, since the whole thing is that it’s a funny, bad song. People think it’s fun, so they play it.

The song, which has now passed half a million streams, led to Lasse having to attend the meeting with the school. It was a school project after all.

In the song, he mentions, among other things, his teacher.

– 99 percent understood that what I say in the song is nonsense, but the one percent did not understand that. I like my teacher very much, he emphasizes.

He believes he is the most viral and popular on TikTok right now and that it is therefore no wonder that the song reached so far.

– But first place came very quickly, I didn’t expect that.

– It is quite sick

Nate Kahungu, presenter at StudioP3, believes the song is a good example of well-executed marketing.

You don’t need to have the best qualities, as long as the marketing is good enough, says Nate Kahungu, presenter of StudioP3.

Arian Engebø, who is the presenter together with Kahungu, confirms that all the videos she has uploaded on the TikTok app in the last 24 hours are about the song Hawaii.

It is clear that he has worked for people to stream the song and for it to become number one. Others who follow music in Norway think it is quite sick.

Arian Engebø and Nate Kahungu have caught on to the song and think what Lasse Sælevik has achieved is special.

Engebø, on the other hand, does not believe that the song will remain on the top list for a long time to come.

– Music can get one “hype” on TikTok, but it’s quality that stays on the charts. I think people skip tracks that don’t have good enough quality.

I don’t think he will walk away with the Spellemannpris

Kahungu believes that part of the success is about everyone wanting to be part of the phenomenon.

– No one wants to be “last to the party”, he says.

Both Kahungu and Engebø still agree that what Lasse has achieved is special.

– Dno one has achieved anything similar. Others have had hits through TikTok, for example Ramon and Ballinciagabut he is the first to have done it at school as nonsense and got it in first place, says Engebø.

The others have focused on music, here we have someone who gives a damn, laughs Kahungu.

Although Engebø claims that she has not got the song in her head, Kahungu says that she has sung the song a couple of times.

It makes me want to go to Hawaii, but I have to honestly admit that I don’t want to listen to the song anymore. I don’t think he will run away with a Spellemannpris any time soon, says Kahungu.

The song is about going from the cold in Norway to Hawaii.
