The avalanches have been searched without finding any people, reports the police in Innlandet.

The people who were seen in the area have been accounted for. One person is said to have got out of the avalanche on his own and is unharmed, the police report.

The emergency services end the search.

Dramatic message

The police received a report of an avalanche at 10.11am.

– There have been two landslides in the Bygderkanken area on the east side of Trysilfjellet, said operations manager Per Solberg in the Innlandet police district.

One avalanche was quickly searched, but it was uncertain for a while whether there were people in the other avalanche.

Uncertain extent

Operations manager Per Solberg informs NRK that they notified all available resources.

– We cannot rule out that there are people who have been taken by the avalanche, and we have notified all rescue resources, said Solberg.

The alarm was raised by the rescue helicopter, ambulance, police, Red Cross, Norwegian rescue dogs and professionals with expertise in avalanches.

The avalanche area was adjacent to the ski resort, but outside the groomed slopes.

The avalanche occurred in an area of loose snow near the ski slopes, but Solberg is unsure whether the area is widely used by skiers.

Nor does Gudrun Sanaker Lohne, destination manager for Skistar in Trysil, have more information about the avalanche area.

The avalanche has gone outside our ski area, she says.

There are generally many ski tourists in Trysilfjellet in the winter.

Search started

Norwegian rescue dogs sent two avalanche dogs to the avalanche, says Nina Leiros, emergency manager for Norwegian rescue dogs in the interior.

– For the time being, it is an unmanageable situation, she says.

The Trysil Red Cross also moved out to the avalanche area with ten people.
