On-duty meteorologist Iselin Skjervagen at the Meteorological Institute reports summery temperatures and a sunny weekend in southern Norway.
– The weekend looks good for many in southern Norway, with the exception of Sogn og Fjordane and Trøndelag – they get a little rain. But the precipitation is moving north, so it is only Trøndelag that will be left with some rain on Saturday evening.
Sunday will be a nice summer day for many.
– It will be a very nice day on Sunday in southern Norway – with slightly summery temperatures, says the meteorologist.

The weekend weather in Northern Norway will not be as nice. Today, Friday, there is sleet and possibly snow in the mountains and rain along the coast.
– Tomorrow it may be fine in the morning, then there will be precipitation as rain in northern Norway, says Skjervagen.

Fair weather on May 17

– It looks like there will be great weather and sun in many places on 17 May, says meteorologist Skjervagen.
Oslo also looks set to get sun and 22-23 degrees.
– It won’t be particularly windy – so simply a great day in Oslo. It might cloud over in the evening, but it will be super nice weather when everyone is out, says Skjervagen.
For Bergen, 21 degrees are reported and a mixture of sun and clouds on National Day. In Trondheim, it looks like it will be gloriously sunny and 22 degrees.
For Kristiansand, fine weather is forecast at the start of 17 May, until it becomes unsafe for rain from 2 pm onwards. However, it is very uncertain whether this reported low pressure will come in over land at all.
Great contrasts
For the 17 May weather in northern Norway, the forecasts for the celebration are so far uncertain. Yesterday, Thursday, the weather forecast for the celebration next Friday showed gray weather and rain, while today’s forecast is a complete reversal: sun and 17 degrees in Tromsø.
– 17 degrees is a very high temperature compared to what it usually is at this time of year. The other days are reported to be 11 degrees, so the forecasts are very uncertain for now.
Troms and Finnmark should wait until Monday before anything more certain can be said about how the weather in the children’s train will be there.
May has been a contrasting month so far, writes Yr at X. In northern Norway, several measuring stations have had temperatures 2-4 degrees below normal, but in southern Norway, several mountain stations in Western Norway and Trøndelag have been 7-8 degrees above normal.
