The stretch between Veitvet and Vestli will remain closed until 18 August, reports Aftenposten. Several thousand travelers must therefore take buses instead.

The Grorudbanen is one of the longest subway lines in the capital.

– This maintenance is necessary to avoid that the subway may have to run at a reduced speed due to wear and tear, says executive director Thor Georg Sælid in Sporveien to the newspaper.

Parts of the section are to have 10 kilometers of new rails and sleepers, and 20 kilometers of power rails are to be replaced between Hasle and Vestli. In addition, six switches are to be replaced, and one tunnel is to have a new lighting system.

This summer, the Stortinget subway station will also be closed for alighting and boarding for six weeks from 1 July.
