FUNDS: – In previous years, these funds have been crucial in facilitating further education, says the board of Myrå kindergarten, Merethe Ranvert, and adds.

– As a nursery school, you cannot make arrangements for the employees to take further education without such funds. In our kindergarten, we do not have funds in our own budget to be able to take courses or further education.

Now kindergartens can once again apply for facilitation funds for their employees who are going to attend kindergarten teacher training. This applies to those who are going to study or are studying at ABLU or are studying part-time.

It is the collaboration forum in Rogaland that has authorized the State Administrator in Rogaland to distribute facilitation funds for the academic year 2024/2025.

This is part of a regional scheme for competence development in kindergartens, and Randaberg is one of many municipalities on the list.

The financial subsidy will make it possible for the owners (municipalities and private) to create the right conditions to get more pedagogues in their kindergartens. Samarbeidsforum has set aside NOK 7,250,000 for the purpose.

Priority studies in this scheme;

1. Students in the 4th year, ABLU/part-time kindergarten teacher training/bachelor’s degree in Steiner pedagogy

2. Students in their 3rd year, ABLU/part-time kindergarten teacher training/bachelor’s degree in Steiner pedagogy

3. Students in the 2nd year, ABLU/part-time kindergarten teacher training/bachelor’s degree in Steiner pedagogy

4. Students in the 1st year, ABLU/part-time kindergarten teacher training/bachelor’s degree in Steiner pedagogy

A document from the State Administrator states the following;

If the allocated facilitation funds are not sufficient, priority will be given to nurseries and areas that have challenges in recruiting qualified staff. An assessment of the competence needs in the municipalities is made based on figures from BASIL.

Employees in kindergartens who have received funding in 2023/2024 must be prioritized throughout the course of their education. Kindergarten owners must apply for funding each year on behalf of their own employees, even if the employees are prioritized. The scheme does not cover students with other three-year pedagogical education at college level.

Applications for facilitation funds for further education in kindergarten pedagogy can be made via Udir’s portal.

In order to apply, the following criteria must be met;

The employee must have a study place, or apply for a study place, for the prioritized studies

The employee must have a minimum of 50% permanent employment in a nursery school in Rogaland

If the employee is employed in several nurseries, it must be clarified locally how the funds are to be distributed between the nurseries

They can apply for up to NOK. 50,000 per student and for a maximum of two employees per nursery school.
