News, Traffic | Was reported stolen in September – then it turned up in inspection

--

The inspectors from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration are constantly out and about, checking that heavy traffic is in order at the checkpoints in the district.

Not insured

On Monday and Tuesday this week, 946 heavy vehicles passed through the checkpoint at the Taraldrud control station along the E6. According to a press release from the Norwegian Road Administration, it turned out that a Norwegian truck that was driving along the E6 while the check was in progress was wanted. The car, which was reported stolen in September last year, was discovered with on E6 on Monday, and was waved in for the check. The truck has also not been insured since September.

– The police were contacted and they requested recovery of the wanted lorry, says Daniel Alexander Hals of the Norwegian Road Administration.

– Not usual

Hals writes in an e-mail to ØB that the car was fitted with signs when it was stopped.

– But these were seized by us in the Utekontrollen in the traffic control, he says.

Hals does not have the opportunity to answer questions about where the car was reported stolen or who was driving it when it was stopped.

– How common is it that you come across stolen/wanted vehicles during your inspections?

– It is not a common case for us at Utekontrollen, but there have been similar cases in the past where we have had wanted vehicles stopped.

17 prohibition of use

In addition, the inspection ended with a number of other reactions. Two nuisance charges were issued and one report was submitted. 17 use bans were issued, two roadblocks were carried out, 27 vehicles had written defects and two other fees were handed out. One driver had a violation of driving and rest time, and one ADR vehicle was discovered with a violation.
