The drama happened on E6 southbound in Vestby, writes East police district.

E6 was closed, but was opened at 05.46, says operations manager Kjetil Elnan Ringseth.

The taxi driver was threatened with a knife and robbed of his car by a customer. The car is now stopped and the perpetrator is arrested.

The E6 was closed in the southbound direction at the Follotunnel as a result, the police write. It was at Tårnåsen in Nordre Follo that the person in question robbed the taxi.

– We received a message from a taxi driver who had been allowed to lend the phone to a random passer-by at 0442, says the operations manager. The driver’s own phone was still in the stolen taxi.

– He said that he had been threatened with a knife by a customer in Tårnåsen.

– We called the taxi centre, and the taxi was tracked, so all we had to do was get behind it, says Ringseth.

The taxi thief was stopped without drama at the Follotunnelen, and appeared intoxicated. The person is known to the police.

The driver must not be physically injured. The police are trying to get in touch with him now.
