After a long and cold winter, there is no doubt that spring is here in earnest. Then the larvikings go out into their respective gardens and outdoor areas to rake, mow, clean and groom the property so that it will be nice and inviting for the wonderful time we have ahead of us.

But when the job is done, you must of course have a place to dispose of all the garden waste.

Fortunately, the municipality has a system for that.

Must be ready

Next week, i.e. starting next Monday, the garden waste will be collected around, or rather: outside, the thousand homes. Collection takes place on the same day as plastic and metal waste is emptied, Larvik municipality states on its website.

– The bags must be ready for collection from 06.00 on the collection day. This year, garden waste is also included in the collection calendar in the MinRenovasjon app for those who use it, writes the municipality.

For those who have emptying day on Thursdays, it is important to remember to put out both containers and garden waste the day before, because of Ascension Day.

Paper sacks

Previously, garden waste could be delivered in plastic bags. This is no longer possible, and such bags will not be collected.

– Have you forgotten to order paper bags? The service square is unfortunately empty of paper bags. These are available for sale in various shops, writes the municipality.

Garden waste is defined as twigs, bark and leaves/grass. Stone, gravel, soil, larger roots and branches are not collected.

You must do this in order for the garden waste to be collected

  • Twigs are cut to 1.5 meters in length and bundled together with rope.
  • Other garden waste is collected in paper bags and placed easily visible by the road.
  • You can put out a maximum of 10 bundles/bags per household.
  • Sack/bundle can weigh a maximum of 25 kg.
  • The garden waste is placed on the road before 06.00 on the emptying day. If your bins are slightly away from the road, the garden waste should not be placed next to them, but towards the road.
  • The paper bags must be whole and dry when collected. The bags must be covered in the event of rain on collection day.
