Culture and entertainment: – Norway is not allowed to say they have won if we win, and then they give us 3 points. It doesn’t work, says Marcus Gunnarsen to NTB.

The Norwegian pop duo say they have experienced being called both “backstabbers” and “country traitors” after it became clear that they will represent Sweden in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö next weekend.

NTB met the twins in Oslo before leaving for Malmö. They hope that most Norwegians are rather happy that Norway has a bonus number in Eurovision, in addition to Norway’s own contribution from the band Gåte.

– It is absolutely insane that two Norwegians are actually sent on for Sweden and represent the neighboring country. I hope that people are proud and think that this is incredibly cool. Then you actually have two different Norwegian numbers that are in Eurovision, says Martinus.

– A great achievement on an unforgettable evening! How much fun it will be for us in Norway to follow both Gåte and M & M in Malmö in May!, wrote Støre when the final of the Swedish Melodifestivalen was decided in March.

He then also referred to the title of the winning song “Unforgettable”.

– If Jonas Gahr Støre is proud of us, then I think the rest of Norway should be too, says Marcus.

– We have a lot of work in Sweden, that is absolutely true. And we enjoy it there. We shouldn’t lie to say that we don’t enjoy ourselves, says Martinus.

– That’s partly why we also started participating in Melodifestivalen, because we were in Stockholm so much.

But after the Eurovision final, they will return to their home village of Trofors in Nordland to celebrate on 17 May.

– We are still two Norwegian boys, we are, says Martinus.

The twins are grateful that Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap) has been clear and embraced the Swedish-Norwegian participation.

Recently, Marcus & Martinus have been staying more and more in Sweden, and much of the apparatus around them is based there.
