On Friday evening, a boy in his teens disappeared from Nygårdsparken at around 8pm. He was there with his family, according to the police.
A major search operation was launched. At midnight, crews from the Red Cross, Norwegian People’s Aid and Norwegian rescue dogs arrived to participate in the search. The police also had drones.
Shortly afterwards, he was found in the center of Bergen, around 00:30. By then, four and a half hours had passed since he disappeared.
– He is physically unharmed, says Helge Blindheim.
He is operations manager in the West police district.
At 01:00, the police write that they have driven him home to his family.
The police were concerned that he was alone out in the dark, partly because he does not speak ordinary language.
Just before midnight, BT was in the area where the boy disappeared. The police were based at the Science Centre.
– He went missing from Nygårdsparken, and we have carried out a thorough search there. We search until we find him, said the police’s task leader Caspar Kaland at midnight.
Half an hour later the boy was found.
The police thank everyone who came forward to look for him.
