From 2 May, the doors at Kraft University Health Center will be opened for women without a GP, living in Tromsø Municipality. Both midwives and doctors are employed at Kraft, and the center has a high level of expertise in women’s health. And it is precisely those who need this type of service that the offer is for (see overview further down in the matter).
– It is a well-known fact that there are many residents of Tromsø who are without a GP where they live. We receive daily inquiries from women without a GP in Tromsø who need a consultation and help from knowledgeable healthcare personnel, says Malin Kvenseth, head of department at Kraft University Health Centre.
Relieves the emergency room
There is currently a large influx of this group of patients at the emergency department. This measure could lead to this patient group being able to get a good offer from Tromsø Municipality and this reducing the workload at the emergency department.
Midwives at Kraft offer the following services within women’s health:
- Cell sample from cervix
- Contraception guidance
- Prescription for contraception
- Insertion/removal of spiral
- Insertion/removal of parking rod
- Breastfeeding guidance
- Conversation about family planning
- Sexual health
- Conversation about violence and sexual abuse
- Menopause
In addition, the doctors at Kraft offer follow-up for pregnant women without a GP.

The offer takes place during normal opening hours at the doctor’s office.
