(Elbil24): Tesla Model Y is the clear bestseller in Norway and has topped the registration statistics two years in a row. So far in 2024, it’s selling three times as much as the next competitor on the list, so it’s about time it got a solid competitor.
Maybe it will be the newcomer Xpeng G6? In any case, it is very reminiscent of the Model Y. Amazingly, the G6 is as long and wide as the Tesla competitor, and the wheelbase is also exactly the same.
A month ago, Elbil24 wrote about the G6 being ready for the Norwegian market:
XPeng G6 to Norway: Long range and rough charging
Here are the prices
Now it is also clear what you have to pay for the G6.
The model comes in two versions; one with two-wheel drive and the smallest battery, the other with four-wheel drive and the largest battery. The versions are respectively called RWD Standard Range and AWD Performance.
The latter will undoubtedly be the most exciting edition. Here you get a battery size of 87.5 kWh, a range of up to 550 kilometers and lightning-fast charging with a maximum output of 280 kW.
This means that on paper the G6 has a larger battery, longer range and faster charging than the four-wheel-drive Model Y versions Long Range and Performance.
It is also important for many that the G6 is cheaper than comparable versions from Tesla. The Xpeng G6 AWD Performance costs from NOK 521,800 when you include tow hitch, shipping and delivery in the price, while the Model Y Long Range costs from NOK 536,387. Model Y Performance starts at NOK 574,121, so here we are talking about a price difference of NOK 14,587 and NOK 52,321 respectively.

*Tesla states 854 litres, but it is measured up to the roof, not the hat shelf. Note that the Tesla 0–100 measurement is carried out with so-called “one foot rollout”, i.e. where the timer only starts after around 30 centimeters.
Cheapest ticket
If four-wheel drive is not important to you, it is worth looking at the Standard Range version. It costs from NOK 419,900, or NOK 431,800 with towbar.
Then you get a battery pack of 66 kWh and a range of 435 kilometres. By comparison, you get 20 kilometers more range with the Model Y with rear-wheel drive, but it also costs 25,721 grains more. If you don’t need a tow bar, you save NOK 37,621 by choosing the G6 Standard Range.
Perhaps the best selling point of Xpeng is the guarantee. They provide a warranty of seven years or 160,000 kilometers, compared to five years or 100,000 kilometers with Tesla.
