The man is to be examined for sanity, writes Dagbladet.

– He has not been questioned on Friday morning, police attorney Trine Elisabeth Selnes tells Dagbladet.

– He will now undergo a preliminary investigation, and we will also try to question him today. We will then decide whether he should be imprisoned, she says.

The preliminary charges against the knifeman are serious threats and one case of bodily harm. One person suffered stab wounds to an arm in connection with the incident on Wednesday afternoon, and was treated for minor injuries by an ambulance at the scene.

The knife incident happened at the Nationaltheatret subway station.

– For the time being, this appears to be an incident with an instigation between the arrested and someone else with whom he had some form of knowledge, stated operations manager Rune Hekkelstrand of the Oslo police on Wednesday evening.

The man who has been arrested ran after three boys in the direction of Slottsbakken. There he was arrested by armed police, says Hekkelstrand.

The police were first notified of the incident at 5.45pm, when they received over 20 emergency calls.
