SAD: Christoffer Solstad Steen in Trygg Trafikk thinks it is sad that so many people lose their lives in motorcycle accidents on Norwegian roads.

– Unfortunately, when spring comes, we have a number of serious motorcycle accidents. It is unfortunately a well-known phenomenon, says Christoffer Solstad Steen in Trygg Trafikk.

On fine days when the sun is shining and the asphalt is dry, people relax more in traffic, which can lead to more accidents, says Steen.

– When there are good conditions, nice light and warm and comfortable, you might think that you can drive faster or are not as observant.

– Brush up on your MC skills

Last year, 20 motorbike drivers lost their lives in traffic, and 134 were seriously injured, according to the Emergency Police (UP). Many of the accidents happen when the weather is nice.

The call from UP is clear:

– We encourage drivers to brush up on their MC knowledge before setting off on a long trip, as they haven’t had driving training for a while. And that they are aware that they are less visible in the traffic picture because they are small, says police inspector Stine Benjaminsen Nygård.
