Trude Basso has been appointed as the new director for health subjects, research and education at Helse Midt-Norge RHF. Basso comes from the position of senior physician in orthopedic surgery at St. Olav’s hospital in Trondheim.
Trude Basso has been appointed as the new director for health subjects, research and education at Helse Midt-Norge RHF. Basso comes from the position of senior physician in orthopedic surgery at St. Olav’s hospital in Trondheim.
“I am very much looking forward to working for good and equal health services for the entire population in central Norway,” says Trude Basso.
She takes up the position of senior manager of the department of health sciences and is thus given responsibility for health sciences, research, education and innovation. The healthcare area includes both somatic services, substance abuse and mental health care. Patient safety, preparedness, patient progress, analyses, agreements with private hospitals and contract specialists are examples of relevant areas for which the department is responsible.
Basso has been employed at St. Olav’s hospital since 2010, is a senior physician in orthopedic surgery. She has been chairman of the board of the Norwegian Orthopedic Association, section leader of the Health Platform, associate professor at NTNU and editor of the website yngreleger.no. Since the election last autumn, Basso has been a permanent representative from the Labor Party in the chairmanship in Trondheim. Basso will continue as an elected member of the Trondheim city council.
– The age composition of the population is changing rapidly now, and the health service must adapt to society’s needs. I hope to contribute to Helse Midt-Norge making wise and necessary priorities in the coming years.
Basso will take up the position as director of healthcare on 1 August 2024.
