Anyone who has followed Tesla’s models in recent years will have noticed that there is a model that is not sold in Norway, the Cybertruck.
A gigasvær pick-up that the company started delivering in the USA not long ago. Built in “Ultra-Hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel”, with a design that is said to be inspired by the cyberpunk aesthetic and films such as Blade Runner and The Spy Who Loved Me.
The car’s shell, in stainless steel, should help protect against dents and scratches, and it also protects against long-term corrosion.
Several places in Norway
Now Tesla wants Europeans to also see the car and is sending it on a European tour that will visit 100 places in 20 countries, and it will start at any moment.
Norway will be visited by the car from 7 May, and in just over a month it will visit Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, Ålesund, Kristiansand, Trondheim, Bodø and Tromsø.
Cybertruck is unlike anything else, for better or for worse, and is 563 centimeters long, 179 centimeters high and 241 centimeters wide (with mirrors). The weight is a hefty 3,104 kilograms, while the car can tow a trailer of 4,990 kilograms.
The standard model has a range of more than 75 miles, while the worst variant, the “Cyberbeast”, should manage just over 70 miles. The latter also does zero to hundred in 2.7 seconds.
Tesla says it should be agile, despite its size. The Cybertruck has steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering, which should make it feel “like a sports car and have a better turning radius than most sedans.”
– Not available
On the cargo floor, the Cybertruck has two 120 V and one 240 V sockets, and it is the first time a Tesla has two-way power transmission. This allows the car to charge any device, for example other electric cars or a home.
The Cybertruck is made in Tesla’s Giga Austin in Texas. Customer deliveries in the US began in early December 2023.
The company says it will take time to increase production, and that they are initially concentrating on the North American market.
As for Europe, Tesla says this:
– The Cybertruck is currently not available in Europe, and Tesla has not announced a specific time for deliveries outside of North America.
There is also reason to believe that certain adaptations may have to be made before it passes the safety tests and is approved for use in Europe, not least if it is to be registered as a passenger car.
