This is money that Helse Bergen has received in reimbursement for deductibles for patients who are children or who have a free card.

Since 2018, the emergency care system in Bergen has been twofold:

  • Bergen municipality runs the emergency room. They mainly accept patients who are ill.
  • Helse Bergen runs the Accident and Injury Clinic. They mainly accept patients with acute injuries.

– If decision remains, it will fail under the conditions for the operation of the Accident and Injury Clinic. This will lead to patients having to wait in two queues and pay the deductible twice, Kjell Matre told BA two weeks ago.

He is clinic director at the Orthopedic Clinic at Haukeland University Hospital and senior manager of the Trauma Clinic at Bergen Health Center.

Matre tells BT that the hospital management will discuss the next step, but that he expects they will appeal the decision, as Oslo University Hospital has done.
