CULTURAL HERITAGE: Dalen connoisseur and sausage lover Svein Larsen from Drammen together with the then leader of the Conservative Party Fredrik Haaning had a lot to gape at during the re-opening in 2018.

The Drammen Pølseforening organizes the long-awaited sausage party at the defunct but fabled kiosk in Kobbervikdalen.

THE DRAMA: When Dalen kiosk was resurrected and given new life in 2018 after a seven-year sausage drought, over 1,000 sausages were sold in two days. The operation kept going until spring 2022, before the hook on the door once again became a problem.

However, some new full-time drivers are not on the way, but the Drammen Pølseforening is now organizing a daily offer for the sausage lovers next Saturday. At the time of writing, a total of 745 people have responded to the event, with the following written invitation:

«Since 1959 and until May 2022, the venerable Dalen Kiosk was Drammen’s epicenter for sausage culture…..the closure of the kiosk brought with it sadness, depression and hopelessness for those of us who essentially subsisted on the perfect sausages they served.. ..The valley was one concept….. a bastion….a small province where time went a little slower….where you could breathe out and just for a small second be free from the hamster wheel we all run every day i……With the blessing of Dpend, who owns the kiosk, we want everyone to experience eating sausage at Dalen again!»

MAN LEFT HOME: The last time Dalen kiosk reopened, it was pure migration and long queues to secure a mouthful of sausage nostalgia.

The kiosk is open from 11.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. Saturday, and can and should offer the usual classics from the old recipe from the sausage pot and “soaked bread”.

And judging by the announced turnout, it may indicate that the phenomenon in Kobbervikdalen is still alive and well.
