On Sunday afternoon, Marlene Stavrum (29) shared a series of pictures of herself from a hospital bed on Instagram. In the post, she informed her followers that she was hospitalized with acid poisoning.
Admitted to hospital
“Then I can cross acid poisoning off the bucket list. Finally got to test whether the prince really cares. Thanks to Lovisenberg who saved my life, grateful,” she wrote.
According to Helsenorge, acid poisoning, or diabetic ketoacidosis, is a complication of diabetes and needs immediate treatment. In the worst case, the condition can be serious and fatal, but most people get better after treatment.
When Se og Hør contacts Stavrum on Monday morning, she can say that she is feeling better. In a text message she writes:
“I’m fine now, back home,” followed by a smiley face.
Diabetic ketoacidosis usually affects people who have type 1 diabetes, which Stavrum has previously been open about that she has.
– It’s so stupid
Helsenorge writes that type 1 diabetes is a disease in which the body stops producing the vital hormone insulin. If you have type 1 diabetes, you must add insulin to your body for the rest of your life.
