Håkjerringa, which was floating in the water in the Oslofjord, was picked up by the fjord near Tjøme.

It was the Archipelago Service that retrieved it from the water and transported it to land.

The Håkjerringa is almost four meters long, writes Fredrikstad Blad, which mentioned the case first. Now the shark will be dissected and scientists will take samples from it. There’s just one problem: It’s so big that finding a suitable place to do it is a challenge.

– The white shark is approaching

– Needs some space

For now, the shark has been placed in a freezer in Fredrikstad, but the Institute of Marine Research wants to transport it to a place where it can be dissected.

Merete Vik Ottesen at the Institute of Marine Research tells the newspaper that the shark must be transported to a place where there is enough space for the researchers to work with it.

– It is four meters long, and we have to be able to move around the animal to dismember it. That’s why we need some space. It is frozen so there will be no spillage or smell. The dismembered animal must be packed and stacked on a pallet and sent to Tromsø. The head will be sent to the University of Bergen where it will be used in teaching, she tells the newspaper.

According to SNL, a shark is a large shark. It can be over seven meters long and weigh over a tonne. The hornbill grows very slowly and is the longest-lived vertebrate known. The shark was redlisted in 2010.

Fresh shark report surprises

Can be eight meters long

According to the Institute of Marine Research, the hake shark is a large predatory shark, larger than its feared relatives the white shark and the hammerhead shark. It is widespread along most of the Norwegian coast and in other northern waters.

Great white sharks can grow up to eight meters long, two meters more than great white sharks. But while the great white shark is a very fast and resilient fish, the kingfisher is slow and sluggish, something the Latin name alludes to: Somniosus – the sleepy one.

Although it would be capable of attacking humans, there are no confirmed stories of them doing so. Not even divers who notice them underwater have been attacked.
