In the morning hours on Thursday, there was hardly a flight over southern Norway. A technical error at the Oslo Control Center must be the reason the airspace is temporarily closed.

Passengers despair over the situation, like a group from the Nittedal photo club. They sit on some folding chairs with their suitcases outside SAS’ service desk. They were supposed to take a flight to Copenhagen at 9, and on to Torhavn on the Faroe Islands.
– We still have a slim hope of making it, but the whole trip, which is the highlight of the year, is in danger, says Kjell Martin Nordby.

Liv Sandve (15) came from Barcekona and the tennis tournament last night and is going on to Stavanger and her hometown of Bryne.
– I’m going back to school and the math exam tomorrow. The question is whether anything will happen now, she says.
Thursday was different for many travelers. The Consumer Council has taken a closer look at what rights you have as a passenger today.

According to Thomas Iversen, consumer lawyer, such incidents can be resolved quickly. He answers three main questions for today’s air passengers:

1. What should I do if I am flying today?

– If you are going out to fly today, you must prepare as if the flight is going as normal. This includes traveling to the airport as planned, writes Iversen in an email to Aftenposten.

2. What am I entitled to if the flight is delayed?

– You are entitled to information from your airline en route, and if the delay is sufficiently long, you are entitled to free food and drink during the waiting period.

3. Am I entitled to compensation for the purchased ticket?

– Check which rights you have on the Consumer Council’s flight rights calculator. Remember that an event like this will soon be a circumstance that exempts the airlines from paying standardized compensation, but all other rights apply as usual.

Aftenposten spoke to several passengers who are affected by the flight stop over southern Norway.

Henning Andre Raab, his wife Ingrid Raab and Oscar should have flown on an SAS flight to Dublin at 10.10. That plane probably won’t leave. It hasn’t been officially canceled yet, so they’re going through security and hoping the flight will go. However, they are prepared that it will not work. In that case, it will be to get in the car and drive home to Oslo. – it is very boring. There are no other flights they can take to make it to the confirmation at 2pm. We are probably a bit late, but our son didn’t get any more time off from school.
