The airspace over southern Norway is closed on Thursday morning due to a technical error at the Oslo Control Center in Røyken, reports NTB.

At Gardermoen, the last planes took off at 6am, reports Nettavisen.

Alta plane landed in Tromsø

Norwegian DY329 started the flight from Alta and landed in Tromsø at half past eight, according to flightradar24.

Aircraft that were supposed to leave Tromsø and towards Oslo early in the morning seem to be waiting to fly south.

The press officer at Avinor, Cathrine Framholt, informs iFinnmark that the long-haul flights from Finnmark and Troms will also be affected.

– If they are going to southern Norway, they have to wait. For now, the airspace is closed over southern Norway. No one can fly as of now, she says.

Closed until at least 11 o’clock

How long the airspace will be closed is unknown to Avinor.

– We are working hard to correct the error, but it is impossible to say how long this will take now, says Framholdt.

Norwegian informs TV 2 that the closure will in any case last until 11 o’clock.

– That means we will have to cancel a number of flights, says communications advisor Eline Hyggen Skari to TV 2.

Follow information from the airline

Significant delays are expected for air traffic in southern Norway on Thursday.

The recommendation to travelers is that they relate to the information they receive from their airline.
