The police with a new Russian measure – handing out yellow and red cards

--

The concept is simple: Does the Russian break the law i the districtEast police district covers the counties of Akershus (except Asker, Bærum, Jevnaker and Lunner) and Østfold. to the police in the east, for example by disturbing the night’s tranquility with loud music, they now risk a yellow card from the police.

After this, a red card may apply. This means that the police can confiscate parts of the sound system or report the driver, who is responsible for the vehicle and the passenger on board.

Romerikes Blad mentioned the new measure first.

– We are disappointed

– We try to follow the rules, but think the police are hunting Russians, treating us unfairly and we are disappointed that this is how Russian time should be.

That’s what Teo Tebogo Kårstad from the “Hot Dawgs” bus says. On the night of Wednesday, they were gathered at the Gardermoen motor park with several buses when the police rushed to the scene.

14 Russian buses were checked. 12 buses received a yellow card, i.e. an order not to play music that disturbs the night.

Two buses were given a red card and deprived of parts of the sound system – including “Hot Dawgs”.

– They took the key to the unit and we can’t roll until we get it back, says Kårstad.

– The police say that people must be able to sleep even if it is Russian time?

– Absolutely, I agree with that. But we try our best to find places where there are no homes around and I think we’ve been good at it.

– The police are on our backs

Kårstad attends Skedsmo upper secondary school. Several of the Russians at the school were stopped on the night of Wednesday and share his frustration:

– We notice the police are on our backs all the time and that they are more out to stop the celebration than to contribute to a safe one, writes the school board in a joint statement to VG.

They believe the police have closed off areas that the Russians used to stop at in previous years, and say they are struggling to find alternative locations.

– We believe the authorities should create a list of legal stopping places where we do not disturb residents around, but without help from the police, it will be difficult for us too.

The measure on yellow and red cards should have been notified earlier, the Russian board believes.

– Nothing we can do about this now, but it’s crazy that they have to resort to such a solution!

– It is not the police’s role to arrange a party

– I understand that they want a celebration that they have planned for a long time. At the same time, the police have several elements to take into account, and unfortunately we see that we repeatedly have to move out because of noise.

That’s what Police Superintendent Rasab Shazad Ahmad says in the prevention section in the East police district.

It is not the role of the police to arrange parties, he says.

– We must make it safe for the Russians and for the surrounding area. The fact that Russians need meeting places for parties is the responsibility of the municipality to arrange for them.

He emphasizes that the yellow and red cards are not an extension of the legal powers they have, but an attempt to make the message about the police’s tools easier to understand.

Of the 51 buses that East Police District has an overview of in the district, they have not yet registered any criminal cases.

– That credit goes to the Russians, he says.

He believes the police have had a good dialogue with the Russian presidents in the district and encourages the Russians to contact the local police offices if they wish.

– We have a very good impression of this year’s russ. There are individual incidents and individual elements that cause us to be perceived as strict, but we want to continue the good dialogue.
