Oslo, Utested | Dispatched to a report of shots fired at a club: – Obviously a weapon had been used

No one was injured, but the police found damage to the furniture in the nightclub which they believe may have come from a projectile. One of the guests allegedly displayed a weapon. Witnesses say they then heard a bang.

The incident took place at Café Sara in Hausmannsgate in the center of Oslo.

A man who came to the nightclub shortly afterwards says that he was met by several people who ran out the front door.

– They said that a chair was lifted up, and that a shot was fired, the man told Avisa Oslo. He says that around 15 people stormed out when he was about to enter the nightclub.

– There are signs at the site which suggest that some kind of projectile has been released, says operations manager Eirik Sannes in the Oslo police district to NTB.

The police reported the incident on X/Twitter at 01.52 after receiving a report at 01.21.

Must have seen a firearm

To Nettavisen, the operations manager states that the police have spoken to witnesses who describe that they must have seen a firearm.

– Our main hypothesis is that there has been a person who has displayed a firearm and we have made findings that are compatible with damage being done to a projectile, as a result of a type of shot being fired, Sannes tells Nettavisen .

– A weapon has obviously been used at the scene as it appears, says Sannes.

– We are investigating damage to the inventory which we believe may be from a projectile hit, the police reported at 03.38.

Have secured surveillance images

He emphasizes that it is uncertain what type of weapon was used.

– Information we now have indicates that a person has displayed a weapon and a bang was heard, the police later wrote in an update to the police log.

The police finished interviewing witnesses and finished at the scene at 03.28. The area was cordoned off and a case is being opened. Video surveillance is ensured.

According to Sannes, it was a guest at the nightclub who called.

– The message was that a shot or similar had been fired inside the nightclub, he says.

No one was injured

When the police arrived, they met several other guests who expressed the same.

The police did not immediately control any of the perpetrators and did not want to give more details for the sake of the investigation. No one was injured in the incident, NTB reports on Wednesday morning.
