When Oddne Kleiven and Eskil Klingenberg returned from this year’s Easter holiday, they were greeted by a slammed door and strange sounds in the apartment. The Easter idyll was quickly torn away as they suddenly had to run, chased by burglars.
The master’s students at NTNU in Trondheim, Olav Nundal, Eskil Klingenberg, Sander Boger Øren & Oddne Kleiven, are all childhood friends and have lived together for several years. Until recently, they lived in the Elgeseter area, but now, on the other hand, masters are being written from hotel rooms, after the Easter incident.
– Oddne and Eskil barely managed to see that the door had been broken open, before a fire hose with a white cloud came out of the door, says Boger Øren.
The boys dropped their suitcases and ran away from the thieves and the cloud of fire extinguishing powder. The burglars, on the other hand, followed, and it could seem that they had no plans to escape, says Boger Øren.
Stole boxers with holes in them
– The boys called the police, who quickly got hold of the burglars. It could seem that there was some drug involved, says Boger Øren.
When the entire collective was gathered in the apartment, they got an overview of what had been stolen. It might seem that there was no pattern in the hunt for loot.
– Expensive things like Playstations, watches, suits and passports were gone, but they had also taken boxers with holes in them and drank all our beer. It could seem that they had taken both things for their own use, as well as things they could sell, Boger Øren believes.
– I feel a little homeless
Boger Øren, on the other hand, emphasizes that there has been a lot of management with the police report, insurance case and hotel-hopping, at the same time as work is being done on the master’s.
– We still have to stay in a hotel because the fire extinguisher was put into use, and it has been tiring not to have a permanent home, says the master’s student.
After the absurd incident, the gang seems relieved that no one went home alone that day, and that they have each other to lean on afterwards.
– Although it is a serious incident, it is an episode that we can fortunately look at with a bit of humor now in recent times. We are just happy that no one was hurt, and that we are doing well despite the circumstances, concludes Boger Øren.
