This time it’s the health center. Right-wing politicians on a parliamentary committee trip have now found that England’s Farmacy First is a good way to escape investing in the GP service in Norway.

The exhausted doctors, for whom they express such care, they were actually overworked because the right-wing parties, on their excessively long shift, helped to break almost the entire GP service. It is more important to invest in a private healthcare system for the rich.

The right-wing politicians told Dagsrevyen that there could be a lot of savings if the pharmacies started blood pressure treatment. Many people today have a blood pressure monitor at home. Such measurements often provide valuable information to the doctor about ongoing blood pressure treatment. A pharmacy-measured blood pressure and good advice from skilled pharmacists can also provide valuable information.

But no sane right-winger would think of starting a blood pressure treatment at a pharmacy without going through a broad investigation into the causes of the high blood pressure. In the start-up phase, close follow-up of the effect and side effects of the treatment choices that must be made is required. The Norwegian Medical Association has of course made a clear statement about that. They have characterized such ideas as clearly irresponsible.

Britain is perhaps the last place of study that right-wing politicians should be inspired by. At one time, Britain had the best public health system in the world. But after 40 years of right-wing politics, British primary care is left with a broken back. Farmacy First and similar fragmentation and dismemberment measures are simply deceiving people.

People should think twice before voting for those who destroy good public services and instead promote private solutions. Because it is still the case that if the rich are to get richer, one cannot spend money on other people.
