The man is accused of gross fraud.
He is said to have received a total of NOK 943,000 in grants from several directorates for a project in which he was the general manager.
The funds were to be used to carry out courses in areas such as mental health, prevention and for relatives.
In the indictment from the state attorney, it is stated that he reported that the allocated funds were used to implement the measures, but this was not true.
NRK has spoken to the accused man via SMS. He does not wish to comment on the matter.
Defender Thorbjørn Gjølstad tells NRK in an SMS that he does not normally comment on ongoing criminal cases.
Created fixed transfers
The man is a former Conservative politician in Innlandet.
He has spoken out politically publicly several times, but is no longer active in politics.
The Directorate of Health gave the largest amount of NOK 475,000.
The man also received funding from the Directorate for Higher Education and Skills, the Directorate for Integration and Diversity and the Directorate for Labor and Welfare.
This must have happened between December 2021 and May 2023.
In July 2023, he must also have set up fixed transfers to his private account from the private organization of NOK 500 and NOK 1,000.
Also faked education
He is also charged with falsifying documents about a letter of intent with two NAV offices and Mental Health.
This was about grant funds to the public agencies.
He also allegedly falsified that he had a master’s degree from the university.
Can face imprisonment for six years
It is the state attorney who has brought charges.
The case will appear in court in August.
Prosecutor Kristine Koch writes in an e-mail to NRK that the penalty for gross fraud is imprisonment for up to six years.
– The police take the misuse of community funds seriously. The order of magnitude and the number of victims contribute to increasing the degree of severity, she says.
Know nothing about the matter
Leader of Innlandet Høre, Hanne Alstrup Velure, tells NRK that she is not aware of this case.
– It’s not something I’ve heard of. It sounds terrible, if this is true, she says.
