The man is accused of gross fraud.

He is said to have received a total of NOK 943,000 in grants from several directorates for a project in which he was the general manager.

The funds were to be used to carry out courses in areas such as mental health, prevention and for relatives.

In the indictment from the state attorney, it is stated that he reported that the allocated funds were used to implement the measures, but this was not true.

It is the state attorney who has brought charges.

The case will appear in court in August.

Prosecutor Kristine Koch writes in an e-mail to NRK that the penalty for gross fraud is imprisonment for up to six years.

– The police take the misuse of community funds seriously. The order of magnitude and the number of victims contribute to increasing the degree of severity, she says.
