The wage settlement is entering a decisive phase, writes Fellesforbundet in a press release.

It is now clear that Fellesforbundet and Norwegian Industry will have to resort to forced mediation in order to settle this year’s wage settlement in the frontline profession.

Forced mediation with national mediator Mats Wilhelm Ruland begins on Wednesday at 10 a.m. The deadline for forced mediation expires at midnight on Saturday 6 April. This means that there may be a general strike from Sunday 7 April.

The joint union warns that 14,301 workers may be taken out on strike if the mediation is unsuccessful.

Bergen Engines in Hordvik has 315 employees who could potentially be called out on strike.

– This first withdrawal will contribute to an effective strike that will hit the employer side hard. Should we end up in a conflict, there will be more withdrawals in the interim, says Fellesforbundet’s leader, Jørn Eggum, in the press release.

Parat’s head of negotiations, Kjell Morten Aune, says in a press release that the parties so far in the process have not been able to agree through negotiations or voluntary mediation.

– Parat has therefore demanded that the voluntary mediation with Norsk Industri be ended, and we will now get help from the Ombudsman. From our side, we are working constructively to arrive at a solution by the deadline, which is Saturday 6 April at midnight.

Aune says that in addition to wages, there is a lot that needs to be done by the deadline.

– The negotiations and the voluntary mediation have clarified the issues, but we are dependent on good progress and success for our demands in the days ahead to avoid conflict. We have announced resignations for 15 companies, several of which have departments in different locations. From our side, there are 1,064 workers who will initially be taken out in a possible strike, says the negotiator.

At Parat, a resignation has been announced for Kis Vest AS in Hylkje.
