Working hands-on with e-commerce is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I was therefore very happy when we decided to start an e-commerce business in Norway, and that in addition to my current role I would be able to run this project, says Gonzalez and continues:

It is a good way to learn more about e-commerce in practice, as well as to understand the challenges our customers face. The rest of the Kodmyran team will of course keep a close eye on me, but the project is entirely my own to run and learn practical e-commerce from.

Nostalgic stuff

The project is still in the initial phase, and there is currently no exact launch date for the store. However, the aim is to launch sometime towards the end of the summer, most likely under the name Nostalgiska.no.

And just as the name suggests, the store will contain things that make you feel nostalgic, says Gonzalez.

Things you remember from your childhood, often things that grandma or grandpa had at home. You’ll find everything from kitchenware to Christmas decorations, and even retro candy from grandma’s time.

Understand the customer

According to Gonzalez, in recent years there has been increased interest from Norwegian customers in the Swedish online store, especially in Christmas shopping. It is therefore not surprising that they now choose to seriously test the market. But there are some things that need to be put in place first.

Right now we are focusing on understanding the Norwegian consumer’s buying habits, especially when it comes to delivery and payment methods. Customs regulations are also something we feel we have to familiarize ourselves with. Having insight into this is absolutely crucial to creating a good buying experience for our Norwegian customers.

The plan is also to launch the new online store in as cost-effective a way as possible by doing everything ourselves.

There is of course a difference if a large company enters Norway and if small e-tailers expand internationally, but at the same time the processes are the same even if the budget and approach may be different, says Gonzalez.

Worth mentioning is that this project is going to be more than just starting the online store; we will also share content both on our blog and on our LinkedIn page about our learnings, so that other e-tailers can also learn from our journey. One of our goals is to contribute to our customers and other e-traders out there by offering valuable knowledge and experiences.
